2. The two-bank loop: Bulls Island and New Hope (14-20 miles)
The classic ride here, and the reason Lambertville has four bike shops. Go north on the feeder towpath through Stockton to Bulls Island Recreation Area, cross the footbridge to Lumberville, Pennsylvania, and come back down the Delaware Canal towpath on the far bank to New Hope, then over the bridge into Lambertville. The long towpath run. 6. The Columbia Trail (15-30 miles)
Above the gorge, the Columbia Trail runs roughly fifteen crushed-stone miles from High Bridge through Califon and up to Long Valley in Morris County, following the same river on an old rail grade. Gentle, car-free, and through some of the prettiest river country in the state. Between the trail and the gorge below it, this corner is the best gravel riding in New Jersey.

Half day (2-3 hours), the two-bank loop: Lambertville north to Bulls Island, across the footbridge, back down the Pennsylvania towpath to New Hope, over the bridge. Fourteen to twenty flat car-free miles and the best short ride in the region.
Half day, inland taste: Away from the river into the rolling lanes toward Flemington and back. Real climbing, quiet roads, and a completely different Hunterdon within ten miles.
Full day, Frenchtown and back: The long towpath run north with bridges at both ends if you want to loop it. Twenty-eight to thirty-four miles, all flat. Riders doing consecutive long days sometimes keep a portable power station for eBike day trips at home for an overnight top-up.
Full day, gravel: Based from High Bridge rather than Lambertville -- the Columbia Trail up to Califon and back down through Ken Lockwood Gorge. The best unpaved day in the state and worth the drive to the start.
The rules that actually matter here
