Where to ride in Clark County
Start east of the Strip. Henderson and Boulder City own the paved loop that circles the River Mountains and ties into Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Las Vegas has long beltway-side paths that are useful for fitness miles and not scenic in the postcard sense. Mesquite and Moapa sit on the far edge of the county directory -- treat them as service towns, not trailheads.
Confirm current access with the trail manager the morning you ride. Lake Mead charges an entrance fee (cashless as of 2024 on the NPS fees page). Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is BLM land with its own e-bike and scenic-drive rules. Posted signs beat this page.
1. River Mountains Loop Trail -- 35.3 miles paved (Henderson / Boulder City / Lake Mead)
The River Mountains Loop Trail is Clark County's marquee ride: a fully paved desert loop of about 34 to 35.3 miles (the official loop site says 34; TrailLink lists 35.3 miles of asphalt and concrete). Endpoints in the TrailLink inventory are Mountain Lake Park at 1020 Golda Way in Henderson and the Historic Railroad Trail in Boulder City. It was built as a non-motorized multi-use loop linking Henderson, Boulder City, and Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Surface is paved. Etiquette is standard shared-use: announce passes, yield to horses where posted, and do not treat desert tortoise habitat as a shortcut. Start in Henderson or Boulder City. There is almost no shade. Carry more water than the loop looks like it needs.

2. Historic Railroad Trail -- 4.1 miles crushed stone (Boulder City to Hoover Dam)
The Historic Railroad Trail is a 4.1-mile rail-trail in Clark County from Pacifica Way and Waters Edge Drive in Boulder City to the Hoover Dam Visitor Center at 81 Hoover Dam Access Road. Surface is crushed stone and dirt. It follows the old railroad that hauled Hoover Dam construction material and sits inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Check the Lake Mead NRA plan-your-visit pages for current conditions, closures, and the park fee. This is not a throttle playground: it is a shared historic corridor with tunnels, hikers, and heat. Start from Boulder City shops if you need a rental or a mechanical.
3. Harry Reid Union Pacific Railroad Trail -- 13.3 miles asphalt (Henderson)
The Harry Reid Union Pacific Railroad Trail is 13.3 miles of asphalt in Henderson from Green Valley Park at 370 N Pecos Road to a junction with the River Mountains Loop Trail. It is the in-town connector that lets you build a Henderson day without driving to Boulder City first. Surface is paved. It is a rail-trail, so grades are honest but the sun is still Mojave. Pair it with eBike shops in Henderson for a battery check before you add the big loop.
4. I-215 North Western Beltway Trail -- 23.3 miles asphalt (Las Vegas)
The I-215 North Western Beltway Trail is 23.3 miles of asphalt between North Decatur Boulevard and W Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas. It is a beltway-side greenway, not a canyon ride. Use it for commute-shaped miles and to link valley neighborhoods. Traffic noise is real. Start from Las Vegas eBike shops if you need a city bike rather than a desert fat-tire. Do not confuse this path with permission to ride Red Rock dirt.
5. Pittman Wash Trail -- 4 miles asphalt (Henderson)
The Pittman Wash Trail is a 4-mile asphalt greenway in Henderson between the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex on N Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Pebble Road at Topaz Street. It is a short, local, beginner-friendly segment. Use it as a warm-up or a family out-and-back, then step up to the Union Pacific connector or the River Mountains Loop if the heat and battery allow.
6. Bonanza Trail -- 5.3 miles asphalt (Las Vegas)
The Bonanza Trail is 5.3 miles of asphalt from Kellogg Zaher Soccer Complex to Valley View Boulevard. It is another in-valley fitness path. Treat it as a neighborhood connector, not a destination loop. Combine it with a shop stop on the Clark County directory rather than chasing a scenic payoff that is not there.
Half-day and full-day eBike plans
Half day, Henderson connector (2-3 hours): Pick up in Henderson, ride the Harry Reid Union Pacific Railroad Trail toward the River Mountains junction, and turn around before the exposed loop miles. Paved, local, and the right first Clark County ride.
Half day, Historic Railroad Trail (2-3 hours): Start in Boulder City, ride the 4.1-mile crushed-stone rail-trail toward Hoover Dam, and reverse. Confirm Lake Mead entrance and trail status the same morning. A path-ready fat-tire eBike is the honest tool for mixed pavement and crushed stone, not a money-keyword shop hunt.
Full day, River Mountains Loop (4-6 hours): Start at a named Henderson or Boulder City trailhead, ride the paved loop with more water than you think, and leave a bailout at the Historic Railroad junction. Summer: start at first light or do not start.
Full day, two-base valley (drive-assisted): Ride the beltway path in Las Vegas in the morning, drive to Henderson, and add Union Pacific miles. Do not try to "see Red Rock" as an add-on loop unless you have already checked BLM rules and the scenic-drive one-way traffic.
What not to ride
The Strip and resort porte-cocheres: cars, buses, pedestrians, and no useful bike facility. Walk the block you came to see.
Red Rock hiking routes such as Calico Hills: those are foot trails on BLM land. The 13-mile scenic drive is a one-way auto road. Check current Red Rock Canyon NCA rules before you assume any path allows your class.
Lake Mead backcountry roads and closed ramps: the recreation area is 1.5 million acres. A map line is not permission. Use NPS current conditions.
Midday summer pavement: the River Mountains Loop is exposed Mojave. Heat illness is more common than a mechanical. If you need a portable power station for a desert day, that is for charging at the car -- not a reason to skip water.
When to ride Clark County
Fall through spring is the real season for the east-valley loops. Summer is a dawn sport: start early, be off the exposed pavement by late morning, and treat afternoon as a shop or indoor day. Winter is often the best visitor window. Wind and glare matter on the loop. Check Lake Mead alerts and any flood or construction notices on Henderson connectors the morning you roll.

Nevada eBike rules snapshot
Nevada defines an electric bicycle in NRS 484B.017: two or three wheels, working pedals, a seat, a motor of no more than 750 watts, and one of three classes. Class 1 is pedal-assist to 20 mph. Class 2 may propel without pedaling, still capped at 20 mph assist. Class 3 is pedal-assist to 28 mph. Class 3 bikes must have a speedometer under NRS 484B.784, and the motor must disengage when you stop pedaling or apply brakes. Manufacturer labels are required on new bikes.
