The Silver Comet is a paved northwest Georgia rail-trail that begins at Mavell Road in Smyrna and reaches the Alabama line, where it connects with the Chief Ladiga Trail. Cobb County manages the eastern 12.8 miles and lists trailheads at Mavell Road, Oakdale Road, Concord Road, Heritage Park, Floyd Road, and Florence Road. That eastern section is the simplest choice for an Atlanta-area half day.
For a longer ride, continue west through Powder Springs and Dallas toward Cedartown. The corridor becomes quieter and services spread out, so carry water and verify facilities before departure. An eBike makes the distance manageable, but the route is shared: control speed near walkers, announce passes, and obey every posted county rule because multiple jurisdictions manage the full corridor.
